Our Area Catholic Community has a valued employee in a new position as Payroll/Human Resources Specialist. Jessica Minette, who had worked as secretary/bookkeeper in the West ACC Office, began her new role on Sept. 1 and is working at St. Paul’s parish office.
“Her responsibilities will be making sure we are compliant under Human Resources and she will do the payroll for all 35 employees in the ACC,” says Adam Saltmarsh, ACC Director of Operations. “She will oversee all that and help Karen Vonwahlde with bookkeeping.”
Jessica will be making sure all the payroll and human resources procedures are up to date and all records are managed efficiently and correctly.
The new position is important to our community as we look to the future of the ACC.
“As we grow and move forward, this position is vital,” Adam says. “With the priest shortage, she will be able to stay on top of the changes for federal and state laws for HR, and better serve the staff in the ACC. We felt we needed someone to support the bookkeeping and keep on top of new laws. Without someone in that position, things can fall through the cracks. We’ll have someone focused on all aspects.”
The ACC recently moved to one payroll system. The HR records now are in one area and will enable Jessica to manage them more efficiently.
In her new role, Jessica is also able to promote the practice of stewardship by being accessible to parishioners and by taking care of the ACC employees with their rights and benefits.
“Our employees are the treasure, and she’ll help through stewardship care for that treasure,” Adam says.
“She is a breath of fresh air and an amazing person,” Adam adds. “With her faith, she is soft-spoken, but she brings so much joy. She’s a great addition to the staff. She just tackles each task with dignity and energy. She’s not afraid of solving problems that sometimes happen. She’s a great team player and strives for excellence. It’s great to see her strive and take her new role head-on.”
In turn, Jessica’s new role enables her to help Adam in his duties, by serving as his support staff.
“She is a good fit for our culture,” he says.
