One of the most beautiful things about being a part of a faith community like Saint Michael is having the opportunity to foster new and unique traditions. This month, we all have the chance to be a part of something new, as we celebrate the first-ever Family Fun Night on Friday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. This event replaces the Family Night Fundraiser that Saint Michael Parish School has hosted in the past, and everyone from the parish and school is invited and encouraged to attend.
“This is going to be a fun night of getting together as a community, kicking off the school year, and showcasing how much our school has grown to the parish,” says Sandra Quebedeaux, the Development Director for the school and parish. “We don’t want to focus on fundraising right now. Instead, we want a fun way to kick off the school year. We want parents and students to come and have fun, as well as parishioners who may not have kids that attend the school.
“This will be a great time for the community to join together since many parishioners go to different Mass times and don’t necessarily see each other every week,” Sandra adds.
It is important to members of the school community that, as the school becomes a fully funded ministry of the parish, the parishioners who are being so generous in their stewardship are given the opportunity to participate with the school families.
“Parishioners see all the other ministries that their financial stewardship goes towards, but sometimes not the school,” Sandra says. “We want to get the word out about how amazing the school is, and we want to thank everyone for their support.”
Some of the different activities that will be available at the Family Fun Night include — but are not limited to — food trucks, a beer and wine garden, s’mores stations for dessert, live music, face painting, a balloon artist, a video game truck, and a bounce house.
Family Fun Night is free to attend — the only cost will be food and beverages purchased during the event. There will be plenty of activities and entertainment for families and parishioners of all ages, making this a perfect event to bring the community together. We look forward to seeing you there!
