We’ve all heard the term “sock hop,” perhaps picturing a 1950s school dance. But what many might not know is that, at a sock hop, dancers were required to remove their shoes to protect the varnish on the gym floors!
Now, All Saints Catholic School is getting ready to have its own sock hop fundraiser at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27. Tickets are $60 in advance and $70 at the door. Only 300 tickets are for sale for this 21-and-older event.
Katey Parilek is helping to plan this event. A group of Minneapolis actors will present a live murder mystery — an audience member is “murdered,” and the rest of the audience has to figure out who did it!
All the funds raised during this fun event will go to All Saints Catholic School field trips, transportation, school events, guest speakers, and classroom and course materials.
“The event is a fun, new way to give back to the school while trying something unique and exciting,” Katey says. “We hope it’s a way to meet new people with connections to the school and church as well.”
Yet, this event goes beyond just serving as a fundraiser. Katey is hoping it will be a way to meet others in our school and church community. It will be an event like you haven’t experienced before — this is the first time the school has hosted such an event.
“We are super excited to put this on,” Katey says. “We are so appreciative of everyone who supports All Saints Catholic School with their time, talent, and treasure!”
What could be better than a fun event that supports the school? There will be heavy appetizers, drinks, music, and live entertainment that encourages attendees to participate. You can also work on your sleuthing skills!
“It has been really fun working with so many creative folks who want to support our school and create a memorable evening for everyone,” says Rosie Filbrandt. “We have had a core planning group but have been blessed to be able to tap into many individuals who have shared their knowledge and talents.”
Rosie, along with Mary Schmoll and Paula Pregler, approached the All Saints Catholic School Parent Teacher Organization about partnering with them to present this event.
Katey hopes to see an excellent turnout because it will be a great time. She knows attendees will be impressed with the food and drinks. The decorations will take attendees right back to the 1950s.
“It’s a great excuse to dust off your poodle skirt and saddle shoes for a night filled with murder, mystery, and fun,” Katey says.
Be sure to join us for this very fun trip back to the 1950s and a classic “whodunnit”, all while benefiting All Saints Catholic School! Attendees are encouraged to wear their best 1950s-themed costumes!
