For the first time, liturgical ministers in our ACC are invited to participate in a formation retreat day. The retreat day, “Come to Jesus,” will be held on Oct. 28 at Lake Beauty Bible Camp, providing the opportunity for all liturgical ministers to learn more about the Mass and their own roles within the Mass.
“It is an opportunity for spiritual growth by sharing with one another, having time for prayer, adoration, confessions, and Mass,” says Judy Smith, Liturgy and Music Coordinator. “This event will be an opportunity for all our liturgical ministers, whether new or experienced, to come together to meet new people, learn about our ministries, and grow in our faith.”
Anyone involved in any of the liturgical ministries in our ACC is invited and encouraged to attend.
“This includes Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, sacristans, readers, ushers, and hospitality volunteers, and those involved in Music Ministry,” Judy says.
The day will begin with Fr. Ben presenting the vision and context for the day, and then introducing the guest speaker. Lunch will be served, followed by breakout sessions where members of the parish community can get to know each other, reflect on their roles in ministry, and share how they’ve experienced God in their ministries and their lives.
Following the breakout sessions, there will be time for prayer, the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and adoration. Confession will also be available, then there will be Mass and supper.
“The hope for this day is that everyone involved in liturgy will have a better understanding of the Mass, why we do what we do, and will grow in love and reverence for Christ in the Eucharist,” Judy says.
The day is also an important opportunity for the liturgical ministers to experience formation while engaging in fellowship.
“It will be a beautiful way to witness all of the people that give their time and talent,” Judy says. “This is the first time holding an event like this. We do hope that we will be able to offer an annual retreat and formation for our liturgical ministers going forward.”
