The Catholic faith is like an endless well — none of us can ever reach the point where we have learned it all. It all begins with a desire to learn more about the faith. Fortunately, here at Ascension, we have lots of opportunities to learn more about the faith, no matter where we are in our faith journeys.
“Given the fact that the Catholic Church has existed for 2023 years, there will always be more that Catholics can learn about their faith throughout their entire life,” says Beverly Brintnell, Director of Faith Formation.
One avenue for learning more about the faith is to attend Order of Christian Initiation of Adults classes — formerly known as Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Fr. Russ Kovash will teach the classes, which start in September and conclude in March. The classes are for those who want to become Catholic or desire to learn more about the faith.
During Advent and Lent, there will be adult classes offered with the topic being determined. For Lent, Catholic speaker and author Patty Schneier will offer a parish mission.
Beverly hopes that parishioners will consider attending faith formation offerings. They are a great opportunity to dive more into your faith.
“We nourish our body and soul with the Eucharist,” she says. “I like to think of continued faith formation as nourishing our mind as well — thus, causing our faith to deepen and moving our heart to a greater love of our faith.”
Any opportunities to learn more about Jesus and the Eucharist are always exciting for Beverly. She appreciates having any chance to learn more about the faith.
“Whenever I learn more about some aspect of the Catholic faith, I experience a consolation that only comes from the truth, beauty, and goodness of the faith Jesus left for us,” she says.
