Dear Holy Family Cathedral Parishioners,
I am thrilled to share with you the 2023-26 Parish Priority Plan. I am very thankful for each person who took the time to take the Discipleship Maker Index Survey and to participate in the many focus groups that were held to help us better understand the current reality of our parish and where we are being called to go in the future.
As we look to the future, all of us should hold a deep sense of gratitude for the sacrifices and dedication of our past parishioners. The majesty and beauty of both the Cathedral building and her community stand as the foundation on which we continue to build.
In this plan, you will see three hope-filled priorities: Cultivate a Culture of Catholic Friendship, the Formation of Disciples, and Develop a Mission Fit Campus. At the heart of all three priorities is the expressed desire to have this community as a central part of our parishioners’ lives – a place that gathers together as a community with a shared desire to grow in holiness while growing in Christian friendship that supports our heavenly orientation.
One of the greatest joys that I have had over the past four years as rector is to see not only the growth of the Cathedral and Cathedral Classical School communities by number but also how each year both old and new parishioners are taking greater steps in their lived discipleship.
As a community that upholds stewardship as a disciple’s response, the incremental growth in our common faith has aided our ability to offer more opportunities for hospitality, prayer, formation, and service. As more parishioners take on greater responsibility for the vitality of this parish community, we can even further expand these offerings and moments of encounter.
The three priorities mentioned above are ways for us to further focus our attention on opportunities to continue to refine our walk with Christ and one another.
I remain hopeful for how the Holy Spirit will live and move among us! Please continue to push yourself in the ways of holiness and belonging to this parish church.
I remain at your service as your local rector and spiritual father.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Very Rev. Gary D. Kastl
