As we journey through the liturgical calendar, we find ourselves on the threshold of the sacred season of Lent — a time of reflection, repentance, and renewed commitment to our faith. I greet you with love and anticipation as we approach this period of spiritual growth and transformation together.
This February, I invite each one of you to embrace the Lenten season as an opportunity to deepen our commitment to stewardship — a commitment that encompasses sharing our time, talent, and treasure with God and our Holy Apostles community. Stewardship is not merely a duty; it is a response to the immense love and generosity God has shown us.
There are so many wonderful ways to actively live out stewardship during this Lenten season at Holy Apostles.
For starters, join us for our Lenten prayer services, Stations of the Cross, and other spiritual reflections. These moments of communal prayer deepen our connection with God and one another. Check the parish website, our Facebook page, and the parish bulletin for details, dates, and times of upcoming opportunities at Holy Apostles.
Our vibrant parish also offers various ministries that cater to diverse talents and interests. Whether it’s participating in Music Ministry, joining the Hospitality Team, or engaging in outreach ministries such as the Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy (EADM), your unique talents contribute to the vibrancy of our parish. Be sure to go through the parish Ministry Catalog from the 2023 Stewardship Renewal for a full listing of ministries or visit the ministries page on our website at www.holyapostlescc.org/ministries.
Another way to actively live out stewardship is to extend yourself beyond our parish boundaries by volunteering in local shelters, participating in community service projects, or contributing to charitable organizations. Your efforts can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need in Colorado Springs.
Lent is also a fitting time to reflect on your stewardship of treasure commitment to Holy Apostles. Prayerfully consider your current level of giving and consider taking a leap of faith by giving more of your first fruits to God and our parish in thanksgiving for the gifts He has given you. In doing so, you also support the ongoing mission and ministries of our parish, ensuring its continued growth and impact.
Of course, since we celebrate Valentine’s Day this month, February is often associated with love, so this is a perfect time to embrace intentional acts of love and kindness in your daily life. Reach out to neighbors in need, offer a helping hand, or simply be a source of comfort and support to those around you. Small gestures can have a profound impact on the spirit of our community.
During this Lenten season, let us respond to God’s call to stewardship with open hearts and a willingness to share our gifts. As we actively engage in these practices, may our collective efforts not only deepen our connection with God but also strengthen the bonds that make Holy Apostles a community of faith, love, and service.
May this Lent be a time of spiritual renewal, selfless giving, and a deepened sense of community. I am grateful for each one of you and look forward to the blessings that this season of Lent will undoubtedly bring to our Holy Apostles family.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Tom Jamka
