Pope Leo XIV recently accepted the resignation of Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila and named Archbishop-designate Golka to shepherd the Archdiocese of Denver. Ordained a priest for the Diocese of Grand Island, Nebraska, in 1994, he served in parish ministry for 25 years before being called to the episcopacy in 2021 as Bishop of Colorado Springs.
His years of service have been marked by a deep pastoral concern for the spiritual growth of his people, a commitment to stewardship as the lived expression of Christian discipleship, and a steady presence among clergy and faithful alike.
