Catholic Stewardship Consultants congratulates our friend and colleague Fr. James “Jim” Golka of the Diocese of Grand Island, Neb., who was appointed by Pope Francis as the third bishop of Colorado Springs.
Bishop-elect Golka is a longtime member of the Catholic Stewardship Consultants team and currently serves as rector of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island. He will be installed as bishop in late June.
Our relationship with Fr. Jim began in 2006 when he was the pastor of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte, Neb. The parish was looking to develop stewardship as a way of life… and the rest is history. For the past 15 years, CSC has been working closely with Bishop-elect Golka and his parishes.
And, for the past 10 years, Bishop-elect Golka has been a member of the CSC team, leading retreats at parishes across the country, serving as a regular presenter at our Msgr. McGread Stewardship Conferences in Wichita, Kan., and giving presentations on the spirituality of stewardship in parishes and diocesan stewardship conferences hosted by CSC across the U.S.Through the talks, retreats, and presentations that Bishop-elect Golka has done for CSC, he has helped people get a better understanding of the very practical spirituality of living stewardship as a way of life. As a key member of the CSC team, he has helped Catholics around the United States recognize that everything we have is a gift from God and that in properly using the gifts God gives us, we can more fully grow in our relationship with him and become more intentional disciples of Christ.
We are excited and proud of our friend and colleague, and we invite our followers to pray for Bishop-elect Golka as he transitions to his new role over the next two months.
