Proverbs 3, 5-6 tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.”
As a steward, we must place our ultimate trust in God. This can be easy when things are going smoothly. It seems like when everything is going the way we would like and God is providing for everything, we feel peaceful. However, when things get a little rocky and spiral out of our comfort zones, we can get nervous, and all of our trust flies out the window.
Scripture reminds us on many occasions to not give in to our internal panic buttons and to offer our troubles to the Lord, who will always take care of our every need. When we do, we let go and let God. One particular prayer that you have probably heard before, commonly known as the Serenity Prayer, is an excellent reminder of how to best place our trust in the Lord and reminds us of our outcome if we do.
Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things that I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
