We all love excellent customer service.
When we go to a fast food restaurant and the person who takes our order tells us, “It’s our pleasure,” we feel like we are treated politely. When we order a product online and it doesn’t work and the company immediately sends us a free replacement with no questions asked, we are impressed with their outstanding return policies.
And, if we are treated poorly — whether by the cashier or the bus boy or even the store manager — we make a mental note to never return to this establishment again.
As consumers, it’s important that the businesses we frequent subscribe to the mantra that “the customer is always right.” In short, we all want service with a smile.
As stewards, we are also called to a life of service. It is our duty to share of our time and talent and treasures with others and live as disciples.
People can sense being served with a poor attitude, bitterness, or lack of sincerity, just like when we receive poor service as a consumer. It’s evident from our attitude that we would rather be doing something else. We are merely going through the motions.
Our goal should be to strive to do all of our stewardship services with a smile. Being genuine in our giving and sincere in our sharing is the only way God would want his stewards to respond to his call.
