If we construct our lives on the commandments of God, we have chosen a blessing and built our lives on a solid spiritual rock. But if we put our own selves at the center of our lives, basing them on pleasure, power, or riches, we have chosen a curse and build our lives on spiritual sand that the varying tides of life can wash away. The choice is our own as to whether we make God or self the center of our lives.
But even if we choose to base our lives on God’s will, St. Paul points out that “all have sinned” by disobeying God. But through the grace won for us by Christ’s sacrificial death, we can find forgiveness and power to follow God more closely, good stewards who share the time, talent, and treasure entrusted to us.
